Spearmint is a common constituent of the Indian and Eastern Asia diet. It is used with spices to give the food a special flavor and fragrance. It is also used for flavoring chewing gums, toothpaste, confectionery and pharmaceutical preparations. M. spicata contains about 0.21–2.1% volatile oil, 29–74% carvone, 4–24% limonene and 3–18% cireole. Carvone is the most important constituents of M. spicata.
Mentha spicata has high traditional medicinal value as it is one of the important constituents of Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Siddha systems of medicine. Mentha can be used for common cold, cough, sinusitis, fever, bronchitis, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, intestinal colic and loss of appetite. Spearmint is applied directly to the skin for swelling inside the mouth, arthritis, local muscle and nerve pain, and skin conditions including pruritus and urticaria.

Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (family: Malvacea) is an annual herb shrub popularly known as Roselle or Sorrel. The plant is commonly used as beverages and folk medicines. Many H. sabdariffa accessions widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical countries. Infusions of the leaves or calyces are traditionally used for their diuretic, cholerectic, febrifugal, decreasing the viscosity of the blood and stimulating intestinal peristalsis. It also show effects on smooth muscles, Antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic activity, Cancer-preventive activity, anticholesterol effects/effects on lipid metabolism, Anti-obesity activity, Anti-hypertensive activity, boosting and nourishing hair growth.

Moringa is rich in nutrition owing to the presence of a variety of essential phytochemicals. In fact, moringa is said to provide 7 times more vitamin C than oranges, 10 times more vitamin A than carrots, 17 times more calcium than milk, 9 times more protein than yoghurt, 15 times more potassium than bananas and 25 times more iron than spinach.
Vitamins like beta-carotene of vitamin A, vitamin B such as folic acid, pyridoxine and nicotinic acid, vitamin C, D and E also present in M. oleifera. Phytochemicals such as tannins, sterols, terpenoids, flavonoids, saponins, anthraquinones, alkaloids and reducing sugar present along with anti-cancerous agents like glucosinolates, isothiocyanates, glycoside compounds and glycerol-1-9-octadecanoate. Moringa leaves also have a low calorific value and can be used in the diet of the obese.
