Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (family: Malvacea) is an annual herb shrub popularly known as Roselle or Sorrel. The plant is commonly used as beverages and folk medicines. Many H. sabdariffa accessions widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical countries. Infusions of the leaves or calyces are traditionally used for their diuretic, cholerectic, febrifugal, decreasing the viscosity of the blood and stimulating intestinal peristalsis. It also show effects on smooth muscles, Antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic activity, Cancer-preventive activity, anticholesterol effects/effects on lipid metabolism, Anti-obesity activity, Anti-hypertensive activity, boosting and nourishing hair growth.
